DIY Lantern of Can
This DIY project is really simple and you can make it in really short time in case you’ve forgotten to buy something for the anniversary for your loved one.
You are in some bar, drinking soda and thinking about the anniversary that you’ve forgotten to buy a present about. Look around you, maybe you can find some idea in the soda can
Take the can and start with taking out the cover. There are a few different ways to do this. And you really want to take off the whole top or cover of the can, so that you can put a candle inside later on. The one that really worked to me was using scalpel.
Now you have to decide what shape you want to have on your lantern. I’ve decided to make one with heart shape on it. So, I took my marker and started to draw the heart shape directly on the can. If you can’t draw regular shape of heart you can use my good known method with sheet folded on half and cut half shape of heart. When you open the sheet you will get perfect shape of heart that you can use it for drawing on the can.
Now you are going to make holes in the can. Also, there are many ways to do this. I’ve chosen to make the holes using wire nail and hammer. Put the wire nail somewhere on the heart shape and start hitting with the hammer. When you have a hole take out the wire nail leave some space between the next hole and make another one.
You can also use something heavier instead of hammer.
Repeat the same procedure until you finish with holes in a heart shape with little space between each other.
If you had the can folded somewhere to the inside, you can put your hand inside the can and push slightly to the outside using one or two fingers.
Now it’s time to light your candle, put it inside and enjoy in the romantic mood. I’ve used smaller candle but it looked to me like the result will be better if you put something like diode it’s up to you.
This is the finished look.
Remember that you can always make some number shape on the can or maybe some message or quote. To make it more spectacular you can put it beside the wall and the shape that you’ve made on the can will reflect on the wall. If you choose this way to surprise your loved one make sure that if you are making a number or a quote it will be written in the opposite direction on you can. If you want to use your lantern more times and to get some more beautiful look of it l you can always paint it from the outside so no one will know that it is only a can.
